"Merge" Design Thinking site on Area 51 to UX.SE?
UX.se is really best described as a place for applied design thinking questions. There's always a context: creating software, exploring industrial design, etc. I imagine a lot of design thinking would be hard to make concrete, and as such would be off topic. So I agree with Ben: let's see some examples. Why don't you point your group to this SE site and see what they come and ask about?

Where do we draw the line on what is UX?
The litmus test is that inherent to "user experience" is the fact that the definition is always shifting and shouldn't be fixed. So there is no answer to this question. We just keep looking at trends and shifting as the trends change.

Is it OK to ask input on implementation of a question?
Often, it's a design vs code thing (design in the sense of how things work, not what they look like). My rule of thumb is that the "how" is OK to explore when it's in the sense of "how should I design this user interface" as opposed to "how should I code this user interface".

Improved UX Logo
Kudos for the effort and for thinking critically. Personally I feel that if we wanted to redesign the logo, we should first take a step back and consider whether we want the same concept (eg. a star crossing the letters 'UX') before spending designer time on iterating the existing one.
